Biomedical engineering (BME) has constantly been playing an integral role in advancing modern biomedical basic research and clinical practices – thus ultimately improving health and quality of life. Recognizing many opportunities and challenges ahead in this rapidly changing field, our BEng(BME) programme (formerly known as the BEng in Medical Engineering up to the intake year 2017), accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), aims to train a new generation of biomedical engineers who can apply quantitative engineering analysis to understand the working principle of living systems, and design novel solutions to address unmet needs in biomedicine.
Our programme has been built on the foundation that draws strength from its strong research and teaching collaboration with the LKS Faculty of Medicine. We believe making it an effective environment to offer diverse interdisciplinary BME training through dedicated mentorships by our BME teachers who are high-caliber scholars in BME and biomedical sciences, ranging from biomedical imaging technologies, biomaterials, biotransports, tissue engineering, and bioinformatics. Our programme also strives to instil motivation for life-long learning and passion for innovation, entrepreneurial spirit and scientific discovery, in our group of young BME talents.
I hope you would find out more information about our programme and the excitement of BME in this website. Enjoy!
