Biomedical engineering (BME) has constantly been playing an integral role in advancing modern biomedical basic research and clinical practices – thus ultimately improving health and quality of life. Recognizing many opportunities and challenges ahead in this rapidly changing field, our BEng(BME) programme (formerly known as the BEng in Medical Engineering up to the intake year 2017), accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), aims to train a new generation of biomedical engineers who can apply quantitative engineering analysis to understand the working principle of living systems, and design novel solutions to address unmet needs in biomedicine.
Our BEng(BME) programme thrives on a foundation of collaboration and inclusivity, bringing together expertise from the Faculties of Engineering, Medicine, Dentistry, and Science. This partnership creates a dynamic and supportive community where students can thrive, benefiting from interdisciplinary mentorship and cooperative teamwork. We foster an environment that encourages lifelong learning, innovation, and an entrepreneurial spirit, empowering students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds to contribute meaningfully to BME. Together, we are shaping a new generation of innovators who will make a lasting impact on society.
